Case Study
Client: Mobile Laboratory Solutions Provider
Indusrty: Scientific Research and Manufacturing
Service: Crating, Packing, Blocking & Bracing for Ocean Container TransportChallenge:
The shipment consisted of sensitive laboratory equipment, structural components, and oversized assemblies destined for international deployment. Each item required different protection methods while fitting into four 40-foot High Cube containers. Improper planning could have resulted in cargo damage, shipment delays, or costly rework at destination. The entire project had to be engineered, packaged, and shipped within a strict two-week deadline. Objective:
Design a complete export packaging and container loading solution that protected the equipment during international ocean transport while maximizing container utilization and meeting the customer's aggressive production schedule.
MMTPS Solution
1. Project Engineering & Timeline Management
MMTPS created a detailed two-week project management plan to guide the entire process, from crating design to container loading. We assigned a dedicated team to oversee the project, ensuring seamless coordination between crating, packing, and logistics operations. 2. Custom Packaging & Export Protection
MMTPS designed and fabricated custom crates to securely house the components, accounting for varying sizes, weights, and fragility level. We applied vapor wrapping to protect sensitive components from moisture, corrosion, and environmental damage during ocean transit. Then utilized reinforced materials to ensure cargo could withstand the rigors of international ocean shipping. All export wood packaging was manufactured in compliance with ISPM-15 international phytosanitary standards.
3. Engineered Container Load Planning MMTPS conducted a detailed analysis of the cargo dimensions and weights to optimize space utilization in the four 40-foot high cube containers and developed a loading plan to ensure even weight distribution and prevent shifting during transit. We employed industry-standard blocking and bracing techniques to secure the cargo and prevent movement, reducing the risk of damage. 4. Final Quality Verification & ComplianceMMTPS ensured all packaging and shipping processes complied with international shipping standards and regulations and coordinated with transportation providers to schedule the shipment and confirm all required documentation was in place. Finally, we supervised container loading to verify that all components were properly secured and met client expectations.
40-foot High Cube ocean containers successfully loaded and secured.
Entire project completed within the customer’s required schedule.
Export packaging, documentation and container loading completed as planned.
No reported transportation damage upon delivery.
Outcome
MMTPS successfully completed the project within the required two-week schedule, delivering four fully loaded and secured 40-foot High Cube ocean containers for international shipment. The mobile laboratory components arrived ready for assembly.Service Feedback
