Case Study
Client: Major industrial manufacturer
Industry: Manufacturing and data center construction
Service: Export planning and custom crating
A major industrial cooling equipment manufacturer contracted MMTPS to plan and execute the export packaging of nine large cooling fans destined for a new data center in Ireland. The project required 27 custom crates, including nine oversized crates measuring up to 150 × 90 × 96 inches. Designing, building, handling, and securing crates of this size while meeting the project schedule and international wood-packaging requirements created a complex logistical challenge.
Develop and execute a comprehensive packaging plan that would protect the cooling fans, accommodate the oversized dimensions, support efficient handling, and prepare the equipment for international transportation to Ireland.
MMTPS Solution
MMTPS evaluated the cooling fans, their dimensions, weights, handling requirements, and transportation needs. Our team worked with the customer to develop a packaging plan that accounted for the size of the equipment, the number of crates required, and the overseas destination.
MMTPS designed and manufactured 27 custom crates for the project. Reinforced lumber, internal supports, blocking, bracing, and protective materials were incorporated based on the size, weight, and configuration of each fan and its related components.
Specialized material-handling equipment and coordinated transportation resources were used to manage the oversized crates safely. All applicable solid-wood packaging was prepared in accordance with ISPM 15 requirements for international transportation.
MMTPS supervised the receiving, unloading, staging, crating, loading, and securing of the equipment. The project was monitored throughout the process to maintain packaging quality, shipment organization, and schedule control.
Outcome
MMTPS successfully completed the export packaging of all nine cooling fans and their related components. The 27-crate project was completed on schedule, allowing the equipment to move forward without disrupting the data center construction timeline.
Oversized crate management: Designed, built, handled, and secured nine crates measuring up to 150 × 90 × 96 inches.
Comprehensive packaging program: Completed a total of 27 custom crates for the cooling fans and associated components.
International wood-packaging compliance: Prepared applicable solid-wood packaging in accordance with ISPM 15 requirements.
Schedule performance: Completed the project on time and supported the customer’s broader construction schedule.
This project demonstrates MMTPS’s ability to manage complex industrial packaging programs involving oversized equipment, custom crate engineering, international requirements, and coordinated material handling. By combining detailed planning with hands-on execution, MMTPS delivered a practical export packaging solution for critical data center equipment.
